Thousands Helped

Whether it is helping someone understand the Gospel of Christ to better their spiritual life or by providing a backpack for a young one, Getchell Street Baptist Church is focused on aiding individuals in whatever way we possibly can. GSBC is the host of the Resolve Center’s Walk for Life on May 10 and is highly involved with packing shoe boxes each year for Operation Christmas Child. It is our primary focus to be a help to those in need.

What Makes Us Different?

The Transforming Power of the Gospel

We believe that the Bible has the ability to change the life of everyone that hears it. From the convicting sermons of Pastor Risinger to our different levels of community outreach, the Gospel can alter any life for the better.

The Growth of Christians

We are not a church that talks about what God used to do, but what God can and will do in the lives of individual Christians. God has not simply redeemed us and left us until the end, but has given us the ability to grow in grace and truth.

An Encouraging Song Service

Each of our services is filled with old-fashioned hymns and spiritual songs that are uplifting to the listener and pleasing to the Lord. Our traditional services are guaranteed to leave you inspired to serve God all week long.

About Our Pastor

Pastor Randy Risinger
Pastor Risinger was born in Waterville, Maine. His parents raised him in East Benton. Not born into a Christian home. His mother took his brother, sister and him to church regularly, but his father did not go to church. His mother was the first in the family to be born again.
While readng a booklet on baptism at the age of 8, Pastor Risinger asked his mother what it meant to be born again. The following Sunday, he walked the aisle during the invitation time of the service and asked the pastor to explain the Gospel. After hearing about his need for salvation, Pastor Risinger trusted Christ as his personal Saviour.
At 13 years old, Pastor Risinger’s mother and siblings started attending Clinton Baptist Church where he met his future wife, Michele, in the youth group. Eventually, they married and became active in the ministry of Clinton Baptist, serving in many capacities.
It was during a missions conference in 2004 that the Risingers answered God’s call to go into full-time Christian service. They surrendered to God’s will without knowing what that would entail. Their pastor suggested that in order to be properly equipped to serve the Lord, the couple should consider going to Bible college.
The Lord led them to Ambassador Baptist College, where Pastor Risinger enrolled as a freshman at age 36. While attending school, he worked for Ambassador on their maintenance staff. He graduated in 2010 with a Graduate of Theology Diploma.
After college, the Risingers followed the Lord’s leading to pastor Calvary Baptist Church in Plympton, Nova Scotia, Canada, from 2010 to 2020.
In March of 2020, the family moved back to Maine and started helping in many churches that did not have a pastor. Over the next four years, Pastor Risinger traveled and helped in many struggling churches and prayed that God would lead his family to the next place of permanent pastoral ministry.
Through much prayer, in November 2024, God led him to accept the call to pastor Getchell Street Baptist Church in Waterville.
